My Favorite Baby & Toddler Theology Books

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, so I thought I’d share a small round-up of my favorite baby and toddler theology books. We have been reading these with our daughter for almost 2 years now, and really love how biblically solid and beautifully illustrated they all are. These are all board books, because we have been in an extended book-ripping stage, and it’s also about all Mila’s attention span can handle right now. Here’s our five favorite theology kids books at the moment!
This is actually a condensed version of a bigger thelogy book that is geared towards older children. I’m pretty sure I have it memorized. The illustrations are my favorite, simple but very colorful and modern. It goes through the entire gospel message in A-Z format in language that is easy to understand.
This series is super cool because it outlines basic theologial principles and Bible verses through things that kids are already learning anyway (example: shapes and colors). I’m linking a set here, but you can get them individually for $8-$10. They have also added some new ones that aren’t included in this set.
3. The Friend Who Forgives
This book tells the story Peter’s betrayal of Jesus. It’s a beautiful picture of friendship and forgiveness. We love the illustrations, especially the chicken!
4. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe Board Book
We can argue about if this is REALLY a theology book, but I thought I would include it anyway. If you love the C.S. Lewis Narnia series, but your kids are just a little too young to sit through chapter book read alouds, this illustrated board book is absolutely perfect. And Mila definitely thinks the white witch is Elsa…sigh.
5. Little Seminary Guides
Okay, so this is two in one, so in case you didn’t count the Narnia book, I hope I can redeem myself here. These Little Seminary guides introduce some complex theology concepts in board book format that even help Jake and I with our understanding. The Trinity outlines the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and how the trinity works. And Imago Dei outlines the concept of the image of God.
We hope this little book round-up is helpful to your family. Jake and I are a couple of theology nerds, and we absolutely love using these books to introduce Mila to the truth that is Christianity. If you have any of these, or end up picking them up, let us know how you like them!
